The ninth GoAsia! adventure covers over 2100 kilometers from Delhi to Pokhara at the foot of the eight-thousanders. We will complete this journey within three weeks, relying solely on public transportation. Carrying a maximum of eight kilograms of luggage, embracing simplicity, and having only basic planning in place make this trip an unforgettable adventure.
The route through less-traveled areas provides deep insights into the lives of the people.
We rely solely on public transportation, including buses, trains, and taxis.
To ensure maximum flexibility, your backpack should not weigh more than eight kilograms.
GoAsia! is a unique travel concept by bestselling author Bernhard Moestl.
Here, you get real adventure on a small budget and experience Asia as closely as on no other tour.
We travel, eat, and stay like the locals. Not always super comfortable, but all the more exciting.
Since we book hotels and transportation on-site, everyone helps with the organization.
From the meeting point Delhi, we head to Agra to visit the famous Taj Mahal.
Continuing through the quiet town of Orchha, the »Erotic Temples« of Khajuraho, and the Shiva city of Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges, we reach Bodhgaya, where Buddha attained enlightenment.
From here, we journey to Buddha's place of passing, Kushinagar, and his birthplace, Lumbini, before reaching Pokhara, where the sun rises over the eight-thousanders Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
A final long bus ride takes us to Kathmandu, from where the return flight departs.
GoAsia! isn't for you if you...
...are looking for an affordable package tour where you are taken to the attractions in a luxury bus, and a tour guide organizes everything for you.
...expect every trip to strictly follow the plan because you quickly get upset with program changes.
...expect the same level of comfort as at home while traveling or are only interested in tourist attractions, not the local culture and people.
...are not a fan of group activities and try to distance yourself from fellow travelers whenever possible to do your own thing.
...have no interest in actively participating in the organization of transportation or accommodations while on the trip.
GoAsia! is perfect for you if you...
...see Bernhard as your travel partner who shows you »his« Asia and explains a lot on the way, but he is not a responsible tour operator, and you help out with the local organization.
...accept that, in the case of route changes necessary for safety reasons, Bernhard always has the final say.
...can do without comfort for three weeks, enjoy interacting with locals, and manage with a maximum of eight kilograms of luggage.
...see the group as a part of the journey, understand that safety is the top priority, and are willing to compromise for others when necessary.
...are ready to explore a truly different world and take pleasure in longer walks.
